Definition

Concept art is art that is not a finished or rough version of a sprite. It conveys ideas about creatures, things, the game world, and interface elements that can be made into part of the game.

Things that are needed

Breed art

While at the moment we're planning to test with extremely simple 2D breed art, it would be wonderful to have even a simple 3D model, which we could texture in different ways and modify slightly. It's very important to realise, however, that a 3D model would need to be appropriately designed (ie, to have all the necessary parts *separate* so they can be converted into sprites appropriately).

Ecology

Critters and plants and fruit and the such. Anything which would fit in the Creatures 2 world would probably be appropriate, and ecology is definitely something a lot of people like playing with.

Other Sketches

Especially of parts of the world.

Art Style

What "look and feel" should we use? The style of Creatures 2's waterfall area is the current idea, but it's still worth thinking about other choices.

One suggestion is to mimic Ingri D'Aulaire's drawing style.
